Forest Garden, Leytonstone
Working with HUT Architects and London Borough of Waltham Forest, a maintenance-free rain garden was built using construction waste aggregates as a growing medium in place of topsoil, supporting native and hardy plant species as well as bee and insect habitats
The Forest Garden breathes new life into a residential neighbourhood in Leytonstone by applying the key concepts of a circular economy to a garden built out of construction waste.
The project won the Waltham Forest Making Places competition and was shortlisted for a Pineapple Award, and employs a sustainable model of production and consumption that responds to the climate emergency.
